Bloc's enterprise 2+ theme update/ fix complerted
« on: May 16, 2012, 03:53:59 PM »
OK along with what was mentioned before, I did some other changes, the Catbar ( blue) changed darker color, fixed the BG colors of the locked and sticky posts, fixed the text or font colors of registration fields and the BG color of 2 fields so the password and password verify can be easily seen, center the random news and CSS Logo I created, so as promised no need for a graphic logo, background matched to the theme color.

All features of the CSS logo maybe changed via the Index.css, such as text color shadows, and size and bg color!

Now to me this is one of the very best themes still available fro Bloc! and is now updated to go with SMF 2.+ forums... very cool! as well as unique and classic!

as with all my themes the TPStyle.css and TPShout.css modified to the theme are included!!

This theme can be had at the TP site>>

regards,
Maxx

Thanks 4 trying out Deez!

The reason I did the logo this way is so you can add a short slogan. or more text , but I will play with it and get back. But if you add a few more words to the title, it better centered><

Maxx

Kool, let me know what you come up with... been trying but can't seem to make it center on the screen ( regardless the screen size/resolution)

To adjust the position, is easy just find this code in the index.css and change the "left" around 500px.
it be at 400px; now:

Code: [Select]
#logo {
    background: url("../images/theme/mainbk.png") repeat-x scroll 0 0 #2D444A;
    border-radius: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
    box-shadow: 0 0 5px 0 #AF5A33;
    left: 400px;
    padding: 9px 15px 15px;
    position: absolute;
    text-shadow: 1px 1px 0 #DDDDDD;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    top: 17px;
}

hope this helps!

Maxx

ya, i got that far. Just thought for other users would be easier if it centered automatically.

Cheers :cheers:

Maxx, I've tried to tell you before that an solution with static pixels doesn't center an image on all screen resolutions. It just centers the image on the resolution you use. A lot of people still use the old 1024 x 768 resolution. But a lot of the newer laptops have 1600 x 1200 resolution. This means that you can not use static pixels on an website.

I have bumped into this many times now, and the solution is always different. It depends on how the site is built. But here you can find the basics of how to center something:

Ok, this is an situation where things get hard because of the way the theme is built. But the basics are shown in the attachments. I could fix the background issue for you if you want, but that would cost me some more poking around. Just let me know if you like this, ok?

Also look at what I've changed in the CSS with firebug ;)

Also notice the menu bug with the small resolution.

Sorry I missed your class that day Bro.. I had no idea I don't know what I'm doing!

Never said I made a new theme, and as stated at TP I'd did not want to change Bloc's Template.php, was not intending to make a new theme, I think need to check with you first before doing themes!

Maxx

Maxx, don't get me wrong. I am only telling the facts. I am not perfect, and I don't know everything. But this is just how it works. And I did try to tell you before on Crip's site. You have actually responded on that message. To bad that the search function on that site is broken...

Anyways, I'm not telling you that you don't know what your doing. I'm just telling you that your method is not the correct method in this case.

Deezel, do you like my edits? I could complete these edits, and fix the background problem.

Willemjam,

Because I, Bloc and Crip and SMF sometimes use a different way than you do does no warrant the statement that we Or I am using the wrong methods

As I mention I had reason for doing the logo to left as I did, and I do know many other ways this can or may be done , but this is way chose to do it, I offered help to anyone on needs this done another way, I also mentioned I could re do the theme completely and I'm very capable of doing so, but this is now my theme, anyone that does not like my work and I only here one talking and other have made suggestions as Mick has and I in the past responded and correct, as well as others I have correct ed error is themes by myself and as well as other's work. I made and or designed themes and website way before I even heard of you and I could point you to websites that claim their way is the best including but not limited to MS, Firefox, Chrome and some others, they all have their own way and who's to say what method is wrong and where is all the work you did.

I know I'm not perfect either and have never claimed this and will not tell anyone on open forums that their method is wrong, that's just rude my friend!

And another thing always learn new things everyday, and have sated in many forums that I'm experimenting and trying out new stuff all the. As a matter of fact I'd really like to meat the person that can please all browser at all resolution and in any situation. I also use and paid allot of money and have and been using many IDE's and HTML/HTML5 And CSS applications, and like mentioned before am learn new stuff everyday... now is my method what you'd use maybe no. But that's your opion ( only) and everyone has at least one!

Maxx

Willemjam,

Because I, Bloc and Crip and SMF sometimes use a different way than you do does no warrant the statement that we Or I am using the wrong methods
I never stated something like that. I just said that your method is not right in your situation. Now let me explain it a bit more. Say your screen resolution is 1000px, and the logo is 200px wide. If you want to center that, then you would have to margin it from the left with 400px, right? But when my resolution get 1200px, then this doesn't work anymore. So no-one will see the logo like you do, because we all use different resolutions. This is wheren the margin: auto comes in. It calculates the margin in pixels it would need to center the logo.

I can think of reasons why you wanted to use the left tag in this situation. And that is not specifically wrong. But it is when you want the logo centered. Then it just doesn't work like I explained above. And the margin: auto is supported by MS, Firefox, Chrome, and others.

I know I'm not perfect either and have never claimed this and will not tell anyone on open forums that their method is wrong, that's just rude my friend!
I don't want to be rude, and I surely don't want to get into an fight with you. So sorry if you felth that I was being rude. It was never meanth that way.

And another thing always learn new things everyday, and have sated in many forums that I'm experimenting and trying out new stuff all the. As a matter of fact I'd really like to meat the person that can please all browser at all resolution and in any situation. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, I agree. But please take an better look to what I am saying. I give you plain proof that your method is not working. And if you don't believe me, then please test it with an different resolution, and see for yourself.

I don't want to get into an fight with you over this. But I only ask you to investigate this a bit more yourselve with different resolutions. I have done this aswell.

That's the problem, if I wanted it center I would have centered it, I did not....
One way of center that I already mentioned I did not want to do in this case, was to use something like this, and this was mentioned to Deez.

Code: [Select]
<h1 style="text-align: center; height: 106px; overflow: hidden;"></h1> or and div comment or statement of course there are other ways I'm sure!
